Edna McLain of Amundsen Davis, LLC received the 2025 Illinois Defense Counsel Volunteer of the Year award at the organization’s Annual Meeting, held Friday June 20, 2025.
IDC 2024-2025 President Denise Baker-Seal said, “Edna has handled the duties of IDC Quarterly Editor in Chief with grace, even in a year full of challenges. Edna has succeeded as a stellar Editor for the IDC, producing high quality content for our members, while maintaining a busy practice. We are all thankful for her dedication and work for the IDC.”
IDC Executive Director Sandra Wulf remarked, “I am so pleased to recognize Edna with the Volunteer of the Year Award. She has generously dedicated countless hours to elevating our journal - the IDC Quarterly - through thoughtful, meticulous editing. Her commitment to excellence and unwavering support behind the scenes exemplifies the spirit of service we honor with the Volunteer of the Year Award.”
In her 17 years of practicing law, McLain has developed a practical and pragmatic approach to resolving cases. Today, she is a fierce advocate with a calm demeanor. As a radio personality in college, McLain learned to get her message across to an audience quickly in the time she was allotted to speak. She draws on that experience today, as she forms oral arguments to solve problems.
As a member of Amundsen Davis LLC’s Health Care Service Group, Edna defends hospitals, physicians, nurses and oral surgeons in complex medical negligence cases. She works with clients to coordinate discovery responses, prepares clients for depositions, negotiates settlements, prepares and argues motions, and manages trial preparation. She has tried multiple medical negligence cases to defense verdicts and has successfully argued an appeal before the Illinois Second District Appellate Court. McLain is licensed to practice in Illinois, Wisconsin and Missouri.
