Britta Sahlstrom of SmithAmundsen, LLC in Chicago has been named the 2021 Volunteer of the Year. Ms. Sahlstrom was recognized for her many contributions to the IDC.

IDC President Nicole Milos of AAIS in Lisle remarked, “A volunteer is defined as someone who freely offers to do something. Britta has taken that definition to the extreme, freely offering her time, expertise, and abilities to IDC. Whether serving on the Board of Directors, the Quarterly Editorial Board, the Insurance Law Committee, the Practice Development Committee, serving as a leader of the Strategic Planning Education pillar, or working toward the creation of a new IDC program, the A to Z Litigation Academy, Britta has proved to be an invaluable member to IDC. Her dedication to IDC exemplifies what IDC seeks to recognize in the Volunteer of the Year award.”

Britta Sahlstrom is an associate with SmithAmundsen’s Insurance Services Group in the Chicago office. She concentrates her practice on various aspects of coverage litigation and is involved with all forms of coverage disputes, including personal, commercial and professional lines of insurance. Ms. Sahlstrom attended University of Wisconsin Law School where she was an editor of the Wisconsin Law Review, a member of the Mock Trial team and the competition chair for the Moot Court Board. She is licensed to practice in Illinois and Wisconsin. Ms. Sahlstrom is a member of the Illinois Defense Counsel Board of Directors, Executive Editor of the IDC Quarterly, and a member of the IDC Insurance Law Committee. Ms. Sahlstrom was selected to the Illinois Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” List: 2019, 2020, 2021 and received the IDC Rising Star Award in 2018.
