Steve Grossi of Bruce Farrel Dorn & Associates in Chicago was honored by 2019-2020 Illinois Defense Counsel (IDC) President William K. McVisk with the President’s Award.

In honoring Mr. Grossi, President McVisk remarked, “Steve has been an active member of IDC, and has brought a unique perspective to the IDC Board. Steve has served as an active member of both the Insurance Law and the Legislative Committees. As a member of the legislative committee, he has drafted several of IDC’s position papers, both with respect to legislation and Supreme Court Rules. Steve does not always agree with the other IDC members, and has not been shy about making his disagreement known. However, in every case, he has done so respectfully and in a way that encourages discussion so that IDC’s position is better informed.”

In accepting the award, Steve said “I am sincerely thankful to receive the IDC President’s Award and humbled to be in the company of past awardees who have contributed so much to IDC and the practice of law. Thank you especially to Bill McVisk, whose steady hand led IDC in another successful year, and to my managing attorney Bruce Dorn, whose encouragement started my involvement with IDC and guidance led me to take on more responsibility within the organization. In reflecting on my time at IDC, it occurred to me that nearly everything that I have done has been in collaboration with other IDC members that I have met and greatly respect. IDC is filled with exceptional attorneys who dedicate considerable resources to improving the practice of law in Illinois, and I am proud to be able to represent this organization. I look forward to many more years with IDC and hope to encourage young attorneys and in-house counsel, like myself, to share in the many benefits of membership.”

Steve Grossi is an attorney with Bruce Farrel Dorn and Associates, the State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company Claim Litigation Counsel office in Chicago. He is an experienced trial attorney with a practice focused on the defense of automobile negligence, premises liability, and other personal injury matters. Mr. Grossi graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he earned both his J.D. and B.A with a double major in economics and psychology.
