C. William Busse, Jr. of Busse & Busse P.C. in Chicago was honored with the Illinois Defense Counsel 2024 Distinguished Member Award. The award was presented during the organization’s Annual Meeting, held June 7, 2024.

“Bill is a long-standing member of the IDC and has participated actively each and every year throughout his tenure. Bill has been a Board member, active speaker, leader and teacher for the IDC. Bill is always ensuring that the IDC is aware of novel legal issues. Bill is a philanthropist and truly wants to give back to the legal community in so many endeavors. He has encouraged the IDC to spread its wings to best incorporate all facets of the defense bar. Bill is truly a distinguished member as can be seen throughout his career and all of his workings within the IDC and for the betterment of the IDC,” said IDC President Tracy Stevenson.

"I am very thankful to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors to be given this prestigious award. I have been involved in the IDC since the mid-80’s and it has been my pleasure to watch this organization grow into the premiere defense organization it is widely recognized as being. The IDC has not only given me the privilege to serve, it has also given me the opportunity to learn and to grow as an attorney. Whether I was leading a committee, serving on a task force, involved in a think tank or serving on the Board of Directors, I always felt that I was working with the brightest and the best attorneys in Illinois," said Busse.

Mr. Busse has concentrated his practice in the defense of tort and insurance coverage litigation. He has handled hundreds of personal injury and wrongful death cases in various Illinois venues, including automobile, trucking, premises liability, product liability, aviation and construction injury claims, as well as fire and explosion and property damage claims. Mr. Busse has defended numerous cases involving churches and other charitable organizations. Mr. Busse has also prosecuted and defended numerous insurance coverage cases. He has obtained numerous jury verdicts in favor of his clients in both state and federal courts. Mr. Busse has also defended a large number of lawsuits in alternative dispute resolution forums, including American Arbitration Association, Mandatory Court Annexed Arbitration and in numerous private alternative dispute resolution forums.
