William K. McVisk of Tressler LLP in Chicago was honored with the Illinois Defense Counsel 2023 Distinguished Member Award. The award was presented during the organization’s Annual Meeting, held June 2, 2023.
“Bill McVisk, a perennial super-volunteer has again distinguished himself as the ever-active liaison between DRI and IDC. We are proud to recognize him for his exceptional leadership, generous commitment of time and support of our endeavors and his devoted service to the defense bar,” said IDC President Terry Fox.
Mr. McVisk commented: “I am honored and grateful to be given this award from the IDC. Throughout my career as a defense attorney, the IDC has given me the opportunity to grow in the profession, learn from some of the best defense lawyers in the country, and get to know some amazing lawyers. I will always value the friendships I have made with other IDC members, and the opportunities that IDC has provided me over the years.”
William K. McVisk is a partner at Tressler LLP in Chicago where he focuses his practice on complex insurance coverage litigation, and hospital law and medical liability. He has handled all areas of coverage and bad faith litigation, especially third-party bad faith and coverage litigation involving commercial general liability, professional liability coverages, as well as personal lines coverages such as auto and homeowners coverages. He served as President of IDC from 2019-2020 and, on behalf of IDC, currently serves as the State Representative to DRI. He is the former chair of the IDC Insurance Law Committee, and a member of the DRI Insurance Law Committee. He is a frequent speaker on insurance coverage and insurance litigation issues and has authored several articles on insurance coverage. He has tried declaratory judgment actions in several jurisdictions and has briefed and argued appeals concerning coverage matters in several courts. He is a member of the bars in Illinois and Indiana and is admitted to practice before several federal district and appellate courts.
