Donald Patrick Eckler

2020
Distinguished Member
Award Recipient

Donald Patrick Eckler of Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered, Chicago, has been selected to receive the 2020 Distinguished Member Award. The award was announced during the Annual Meeting on June 19, 2020.

“Pat Eckler has become a true leader in the defense bar. For some time, Pat has been an active member of several IDC committees, and for the last three years has been the Chair of the IDC Legislative Committee. In that role he has helped IDC to identify key issues to advocate before the Illinois legislature, has worked to develop the arguments supporting IDC’s position, and has worked to ensure that IDC’s voice has been heard. Pat has also helped to ensure that the Supreme Court Rules Committee has the benefit of the defense perspective when it considers changing or adopting new rules. He has also been an active member of the IDC Board of Directors, and a thought leader on issues relevant to the defense,” said IDC President William K. McVisk.

Pat commented, “The IDC has provided a platform to be involved with shaping and have our voice heard in regard to legislation and Supreme Court Rules necessary to have a fair civil justice system. I look forward to continuing to work and to one day see our priorities become law.”
