IDC Committees

Substantive Law Committees

IDC practice groups are an invaluable resource for the professional development of our members. Each of these groups works to further the knowledge and skills of the defense bar in that area of practice. As a member of the IDC, you are invited to join any of our practice groups:

Civil Practice
The Civil Practice Committee provides its members a platform to discuss policy and procedure within the defense practice.

Construction Law
The Construction Law Committee offers members an opportunity to discuss, learn and publish on issues surrounding construction law.

Employment Law
The Employment Law Committee offers members an opportunity to further increase or enhance their knowledge base and experience regarding employment policy, litigation and legislation.

Insurance Law
The Insurance Law Committee is devoted to staying abreast of emerging trends and educating its members regarding insurance coverage law in Illinois and issues regarding liability, auto, and first party coverage.

Local Government Law
The Local Government Law Committee is best suited for members whose practice focuses on the representation of local government entities, including, but not limited to cities, villages, townships, school districts, and park districts as well as their officials and employees.

Tort Law
The Tort Law Committee allows its members to discuss, learn and publish on a variety of legal fields including products liability, medical liability, construction law and workers compensation.

Toxic Tort Law
The Toxic Tort Law Committee allows its members to discuss, learn and publish on issues related to toxic tort litigation.

Administrative & Event Committees

In addition to these practice groups, IDC also offers the following committee for member engagement:

Amicus
The Amicus Committee works to identify important cases and recruit counsel to prepare amicus briefs so that the voice of the membership is heard on legal issues pending before Illinois reviewing courts.

Diversity & Inclusivity
The Diversity & Inclusivity Committee works to create a more diverse and inclusive association for the defense community.

Events
The Events Committee is responsible for planning and implementation of a variety of IDC programs throughout the year. This committee works with the Executive Board and other committees in the planning of seminars, conferences, academies and other such programs.

IDC Quarterly Editorial Board
The IDC Quarterly, our signature publication, is circulated to all IDC members and members of the Illinois judiciary. The members of the Editorial Board oversee the entire publication - from substantive law columns to Feature Articles to Monographs. If you are interesting in contributing to the IDC Quarterly, contact us at idc@iadtc.org.

Legislative
The Legislative Committee identifies legislation that has a potential impact upon the substantive areas of practice of the IDC and works to support or oppose particular pieces of legislation.

Membership
The Membership Committee is responsible for all membership activities within the association including solicitation and retention of membership.

Young Lawyers
The Young Lawyers Division is responsible for attracting and retaining young lawyers to the IDC and addressing the priorities of young lawyer members.
