C. William Busse, Jr. of Busse, Busse & Grasse, P.C. received the 2009 IDC President’s Award at the association’s annual meeting on June 12 in Chicago. Mr. Busse was recognized by 2008-2009 President Gregory Cochran for helping to raise the profile of the IDC with the state legislature.
President Cochran commented that the IDC must continue to support legislation and case law which promotes a level playing field for both sides in civil litigation, and as an association, we must continue to resist attempts to tilt the playing field against defendants.
Cochran praised Busse for spearheading the writing and introduction of IDC legislation in the Illinois General Assembly. "This involved a lot of creativity and dedication to seeing the task through,” said Cochran. "Bill has demonstrated a strong commitment to maintaining and increasing the IDC profile in Springfield.”
Busse is the President of the Chicago law firm of Busse, Busse & Grasse, P.C. He concentrates his practice in defense of tort litigation. As a litigator he has defended insurance coverage cases and numerous cases involving churches and other charitable organizations.
A current director of the IDC, Bill has authored articles for the IDC Quarterly. He has served the association with distinction as a chair of the Civil Practice & Procedure Committee, and as co-chair of the Think Tank Task Force.
