Remote Jury Selection

Judge Mitchell L. Hoffman of the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit will explain the reasons why the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit developed its “Remote Jury Selection Protocol”. He will explain how the protocol works and show a video of a mock remote jury selection conducted earlier this year.

Hon. Mitchell L. Hoffman was appointed to the position of Associate Judge in the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit in April of 2001. In February of 2014 he was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court to fill a Circuit Judge vacancy and was elected as a Circuit Judge in 2016. He is currently the Presiding Judge of the Civil Division and is assigned to a Law Division court call. Prior to being appointed to the bench, Judge Hoffman spent 4 years in private practice in Chicago, and then served for 13 years in the Civil Division of the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, first as an Assistant State’s Attorney, and later as the Chief Deputy State’s Attorney.

He is a graduate of Colorado College and The University of Illinois College of Law.

Credit has been approved with the MCLE Board of the Supreme Court of Illinois for 1.0 General CLE credit.
