Illinois and Missouri are home to some of the most active asbestos litigation dockets in the country. However, each venue is unique, with different rules, customs, and procedures. Defense attorneys should be familiar with the customs and practices in these venues in order to defend their clients. During this seminar, the speakers will examine the asbestos litigation dockets in Madison County, Illinois; St. Clair County, Illinois; Cook County, Illinois; McLean County, Illinois; and St. Louis City, Missouri. The speakers will provide an overview of practicing in each venue, compare and contrast the venues, and provide helpful tips for defense attorneys who practice in the venues.

	Tucker Blaser joined Brown & James, P.C. in 2009 and practices in the firm's Belleville, Illinois, office. His practice focuses on defending medical practice, premises and product liability, and toxic tort cases. Mr. Blaser currently leads the toxic tort division for the Belleville office and serves as local counsel for multiple product and premises liability clients.
	Andrew German is an Associate at Husch Blackwell LLP in their St. Louis office. Andrew defends clients in matters involving toxic tort, product liability, premises liability and personal injury. 	Danielle R. Luisi is an associate with Husch Blackwell LLP in Chicago, Illinois, where she focuses her practice on the defense of toxic tort and asbestos litigation. She serves as both national coordinating counsel and local counsel for a number of asbestos clients ranging from Fortunate 500 companies to small businesses, executing the defense of toxic tort claims in various state and federal jurisdictions across the country. Ms. Luisi has significant trial experience as a former prosecutor in the civil and criminal bureaus of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office.
	Gregory W. Odom of Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice LLC in Belleville is an experienced trial attorney whose practice is focused on complex business litigation matters in the areas of toxic torts, personal injury, product liability, premises liability, environmental law, and commercial litigation. He represents individuals, local businesses, and Fortune 500 companies in state and federal courts across Illinois and Missouri. Mr. Odom received his B.A. from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 2005 and his J.D. from Southern Illinois University in 2008. He is Chair of the IDC Toxic Tort Law Committee for the IDC and a member of the IDC Board of Directors.
	James P. O’Shea, II of Husch Blackwell, LLP focuses his practice on toxic tort matters and product liability, with an emphasis on asbestos claims, but has also handled probate issues and entertainment matters. He drafts discovery and response pleadings, deposition summaries, pretrial reports as well as settlement authority requests and other reports as required by various insurance carriers. James earned his J.D. from The John Marshall Law School, where he was awarded the Order of John Marshall, served as Student Bar Association President, and served as a member of the John Marshall Law Review.
